Time to sort out the switchgear.
The right side was whole but in poor condition. The left side was not original and in poor condition, and the wiring was a disaster.

Luckily I have some spares.
Starting with the left side, remove retaining screws, brass shims and internal plates and screws.
And same for the right side.
I stored away the cables and internal parts for future refurbishment and thoroughly cleaned the metal shells in the parts washer. Then I applied paint remover. Actually the modern stuff is total crap and took several attempts before any of the paint came off. In the end I had to sand down the metal parts. All of this took most of the day so tomorrow I will give them a couple of hours in the ultrasonic bath and then they will be ready for etch priming and painting.
I also managed to fit the front brake hoses before spending a couple of hours starting to work out where all the wires go on the new loom. Almost got it figured out.
