Took time out today to attend to my own vehicles. Currently trying to get them registered in the UK, not easy any more.
Firstly you have 14 days after entry to the UK to make a NOVA (Notification Of Vehicle Arrival) declaration to HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) to see if any tax is due. Then they have to be MOT tested (roadworthiness) and insured on the frame number and then a metric shit ton of paperwork filled in and sent to the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority), along with a form to convert my Spanish driving licence to a UK one again.
So today I managed to find insurance for the 2 bikes and my van, and also got the 2 bikes MOT tested. Th van MOT is tomorrow. The fly in the ointment is that they are then not allowed on the roads until the UK papers and number plates are in my possession, around 3 to 4 weeks. As the van is my sole means of transport, and I live 8 miles from town it pretty well shafts me. Ho hum.
At least the bikes passed their tests with no worries.
