Now that most of the setting up of the cave is complete I can finally get back to work.
I repaired a Mirage this week. It had had an ignition switch failure so I fitted a new one. Not that straightforward as it had a 3-wire ignition switch as fitted to CDI compatible wiring looms. All the new ignition switches come with 4 wires and small connector block as required for BTZ compatible looms.
On top of this the switches are pattern parts and are completely different at the connection points on the back of the switch.
Takes a wee while to get your head round what goes where (no post markings and all in different positions) and which wire to remove.
Anyway, snipped the relevant wire and lengthened the wires to suit the connector block locations in the headlamp shell.

Then I started restoring 2 sets of switchgear.
They are relatively easy to disassemble. Then I stripped the old paint, washed them in the parts washer and then gave them a couple of hours in the ultrasonic bath.
Then they got a coating of etch primer followed by a couple of coats of primer.
This is where they are at the moment.
Next step is top coat in satin black, then re-painting the lettering in orange.
After that it's re-assembly time and fitting replacement plastic buttons as several were missing.
Hopefully get them finished tomorrow.
