Time to start work re-covering the Jota seat. I had a good seat base painted and I had an Eldorado seat cover correct for this model in stock but I only had some crappy seat foam that had been drastically cut down by a DPO. After a bit of a search I contacted a supplier who advertises seat covers and complete seats online. In due course I received a seat foam for this model, ready to go. Only it wasn't anywhere near being ready to fit. It was too wide, skewed to one side and of average quality. So I spent a few hours today trying to make it fit for purpose. It comprised a hard foam core covered in thin grey scrim. In the end I had to remove 90% of the grey scrim to allow access to the core layer in order to shape it better. What a palaver. Still, it was better than trying to use the cut-down original foam.
After much effort I got it to a stage where it is ready for fitting the cover. But I will leave it overnight so that the contact adhesive has fully set. The next step involves a LOT of heavy stretching and then gluing into position so best done when everything stays where it should be.
To be continued.
Applying edging strip to stop the metal edge of the seat base cutting through the new cover.

The foam after serious fettling.
End of play today.
