Well it took me 19 attempts to get the front brake sorted. 19 times removing the wheel, sanding the brake shoes, rebuilding the wheel on the bike, connecting up the cable and testing the brake. Repeat ad infinitum until brake works properly. Took it for a short ride and it's possible to lock the front wheel at will now. Good enough for me.
Now I can move on to the small jobs to finish the restoration, then a clean and polish and it will be ready to go to it's new owner.
