Today I fitted the gearbox sprocket, endless 'x' ring chain and sprocket cover. This houses the gear selection system too so I had to install that as well.
Then I fitted the upper and lower chain guards.
Next on the list was to fit the rear brake cable but first I had to profile the new brake shoes to fit the drum, in order to offer sufficient adjustment on the end of the cable and still allow the wheel to turn. The shoes had new linings fitted but were oversized. Now they fit well.
Then I rewired the connection from the dynamo to the regulator. Full wiring will have to wait until I get the original fork stanchions back from the UK chromer and rebuild the front end. I always start rewiring from the headlamp shell backwards.
I didn't get round to refitting the exhaust system but at least I dug out all the parts and laid them out ready to fit tomorrow.
